About me
I’m Michael Williams a licensed professional counselor in Ohio with a background that blends clinical skill, mindfulness training, and more than a decade of outdoor leadership. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 12 years guiding whitewater rafting trips in Alaska, California, Colorado, West Virginia, and Maryland. Those years showed me how profoundly nature helps people breathe, regulate, and reconnect with themselves; lessons I now bring into every session.
Clinically, I hold a B.A. in Philosophy from Kent State University and an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Akron. I’ve worked in community mental health providing individual therapy and leading DBT skills groups, developing a strong foundation in emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and practical skills for navigating life’s stressors. I’m also a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200), and I integrate grounding, breathwork, and mind–body awareness to help clients calm their nervous systems and create lasting change.
My mission is deeply personal. I became a therapist because I’ve lived with anxiety and depression since I was twelve. I know what it’s like to feel lost, overwhelmed, and unsure where to turn. And, I want to be the person I needed back then. My goal is to offer a steady, compassionate presence for people who feel like they’ve been carrying too much for too long.
Today, I specialize in helping high-capacity adults facing stress, burnout, anxiety, or the lingering impact of difficult relationships find steadiness again. Walk-and-talk therapy allows me to blend nature’s calming influence with evidence-based strategies so you can release tension, reset your mind, regulate your emotions, and reconnect with the version of yourself you’ve been missing.
